Punjab Announces New Marking System for Board Exams

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has directed education boards to accelerate examination reforms by introducing modern technology and strengthening transparency across the examination process.

Chairing an introductory meeting with newly appointed chairpersons of the education boards, the minister announced that online screen marking will be introduced on a pilot basis during the upcoming supplementary examinations.

He said there is no room for errors in paper setting, marking, or invigilation, emphasizing that the boards are responsible for safeguarding the future of millions of students. He also directed officials to ensure the examination process remains free from political interference and exam mafias.

The minister instructed board chairpersons to regularly inspect marking centers, closely monitor sensitive examination centers, and take action against those found checking papers incorrectly.

He also ordered authorities to ensure basic facilities, including electricity, fans, drinking water, and proper lighting, are available at examination centers so students do not face unnecessary difficulties.
