Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho has said that women’s mortality rate has increased during childbirth because of caesarean operations.
She made the remarks while addressing a family planning summit titled “Mother Remains Safe” held at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
Dr Pechuho said Sindh leads the country in maternal and child health reforms and has introduced several laws to improve care for mothers and children.
She said the provincial government is working on the issue and promised visible results soon.
The health minister also said women coming for a third caesarean operation would undergo a contraceptive procedure.
