Police have registered a case against a nurse after a 23-day-old baby girl lost her right thumb while receiving treatment at Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi.
The baby’s father discovered the injury during a visit to the nursery ward. Hospital staff reportedly told him that the thumb had been cut during a medical procedure.
The hospital launched an internal inquiry, while New Town police began investigating the incident following a formal complaint from the family.
The nurse later appeared before the inquiry committee and apologized. The baby’s father said he had forgiven her, but the police investigation into the incident is still underway.
