Q1: You are writing a book about God. Where did you get the inspiration from?
I realized after all these years that what Allah wants from us is very simple. We Muslims have been divided in different sects that have their own beliefs and have been entangled in wars for hundreds of years. We found that the difference in views between the sects has no relation with our life hereafter.
For example, the Sunni and Shia sects have a difference on opinion on who should have been the caliph after Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH)’s passing. After doing our research on the Holy Quran and Muhammad (PBUH)’s life teachings, we found that we won’t be questioned about this on the day of judgment.
The most prestigious Hadith (word of Allah) is the Hadith of Jibreel (Gabriel) in which our religion is explained in pointers. For example, it explains that we should speak the truth, behave kindly towards others, pray to Allah and obey His teachings. These are all universally accepted truths. So, we have tried to explain it to both the Muslims and non-Muslims that Islam is a very simple religion and these are the things Allah wants from us.
We have given too much thought and time to things that are irrelevant in our religion. We have tried to simplify it so that every person in the world can easily understand the teachings of Islam.
On the day of judgement, we have to answer for ourselves, we will be asked about our doings in the world, not about how other people have dressed up or why that girl is not wearing a dupatta. We can’t be answerable for them, we have to concentrate on ourselves and how we behave in this temporary world.
Q2: When will your book be published and when will your fans be able to read it?
What people need to know is that I’m not a book writer at all, I just wanted to share some heartfelt thoughts that I have been experiencing over the past few years. I want to make people aware of the realities of our religion and just want to share the knowledge that I have garnered.
I think it is necessary for human beings to share knowledge with others and to talk about something as beautiful as Islam and to make people aware of the day of judgment and that is what I have tried to do in the book.
I just want people to know that I don’t have the ambition to become an author, this is more like a desperate appeal, as I believe I have discovered something that I believe is the truth and I want to share it with people.
We are aiming to publish the book in June, but it can be pushed back. It will definitely be published this year though.
Q3: Why did you prefer to write a book instead of delivering the message through a video format?
I have done it through a video format previously, but I believe that the time to deliver the message indirectly has passed. We believe that the day of judgment is very near.
In the Hadith of Jibreel it is stated that Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said that the day of judgement will be near when slavery will be abolished worldwide. The day of judgement will be right upon us when Arabs will be competing against each other to create the tallest buildings in the world. Which is exactly what is happening in the world right now.
I realized that when we were delivering the message through the video medium, people were more interested in the craft itself rather than the content. I thought it’s time to tell the people directly rather than through the entertainment medium. The message was being diluted through the entertainment medium.
We have tried to convey the message in black and white and have made a desperate plea to the people through this book.
Q4: You announced your exit from Showbiz, but then again speculations arrived that it has not ended for you completely. Your fans want to know if they will be seeing you in an acting avatar again?
I haven’t left the entertainment business, but I will not be making a comeback anytime soon. I have not quit, but it will take some time to come back to the industry. I want to portray a different image as well, it’s okay to work in the entertainment industry while being religious. Religion has no issues with acting, movies and dramas, that’s why I haven’t quit, I have just taken a long break. It can be a prolonged break, maybe 5 or 10 years as well, but my main focus right now is to deliver my findings of Islam to people.
Q5: Will you be counting your spiritual and personal journey in understanding God in your book?
The journey will not be about me, it will be about the thought process, the simplicity. People have a perception that it is a very intellectual exercise, where you will have to read thousands of books, hundreds of articles to reach the truth. It’s not like that at all.
The book is going to be an extremely simple thought experiment, which I’m hoping will take the reader in the same direction as me. There are simple arguments in the books, I like to call it a thought journey. So, this is not about me at all or the irrelevant matters.
I want that even if a non-Muslim reads it, he adapts it in the way that I have and I believe it’s a universal message. It’s not falsifiable.
Q6: Lastly, when can the readers get hold of this book?
As soon as I am done writing (laughs). Hopefully, it will be available to the people within this year. I want its soft copy to be available everywhere for free.
