As the dust settles on the US Presidential Elections 2024, Donald Trump edged out Kamala Harris, formerly Vice President under Joe Biden, to reclaim the presidency.
Trump hailed the victory as historic and described the elections as the greatest political movement of all time, “a movement like nobody has ever seen before,” in his words. He also thanked the voters who elected him as the country’s 47th president.
He promised to fight for the country and the citizens and their families. He added: “It’s time to make America great again.”
On the contrary, Joe Biden’s tenure was no less than a roller coaster ride despite the fact that he made significant contributions to the technology sector and efforts. He also administered economic policies in order to combat inflation and promote job creation by making certain infrastructure investments.
During his presidency, Biden’s immigration policies were liberalized, and as a result huge number of immigrants poured into the United States. This is a point of contention for Trump, who characterized it as disastrous and described it as “migrant evasion.”
Another interesting fact is that Biden was quite vocal about promoting democracies and human rights, notably backing Ukraine against Russian aggression. However, his approach to the Palestine-Israel conflict remained the same as the previous administrators. According to Sources, the Biden administration authorized the transfer of billions of dollars worth of ammunition and fighter jets to Israel. The reports also highlighted that from October 2023 to October 2024, the United States spent more than $17 billion on military aid to Israel.
It is also pertinent to mention that the 2003 US’s Operation Iraq Liberation (OIL), which later changed to Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), had cost the US trillions of dollars, and Trump boldly criticized the intervention as one of the most foolish things done by any president in the history of United States.
Apart from having issues with the Iranian Administration, the much-awaited part is how the current war and conflict situation in West Asia turns out to be under the newly elected President Donald Trump, who plans to work on economic development and cut further expenses to put an end to the growing inflation.
While addressing his followers at Palm Beach Convention Centre, he promised: I’m not going to start wars; I’m going to stop wars,” This is undoubtedly a gust of hope for people who condemn violence and the tensions being witnessed in certain regions.
The question that arises with his vow to promote peace is this: Will he still provide financial aid to the countries participating in wars, or would it focus more on inward development? It is yet to be seen what decisions he will take and how they will affect other regions across the globe.
Highlights on Trump’s Mandate:
- The border would be sealed to halt unauthorized migration.

- Election security would be fortified with measures such as same-day voting, voter identification, paper ballots, and proof of citizenship.
- The nation would be unified by steering it towards unprecedented levels of success.
Each of these points brings Trump’s intentions to light and clarifies what to expect. Clearly, he is committed to strengthening the country’s infrastructure and steering it toward a path that leads to a brighter, more prosperous future. However, will he be able to fulfill his promises and the vows he made? It is yet to be determined whether his leadership heralds a new dawn or a dusk for America.
