These Pakistani Passport Holders Can Now Visit Italy Without a Visa

Pakistan and Italy have signed an agreement exempting holders of diplomatic passports from visa requirements, marking a new step in bilateral relations between the two countries.

The agreement was signed in Rome by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Italy Ali Javed and Italy’s Secretary General for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Riccardo Guariglia during a ceremony held at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Prior to the signing, the two sides held talks on bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on collaboration at multilateral forums, including the United Nations and the European Union.

According to an official statement, both countries expressed satisfaction with the growing momentum of their bilateral relationship and described the visa exemption agreement as a measure that would facilitate official exchanges and strengthen diplomatic engagement.

Pakistan and Italy currently have 15 government-to-government agreements covering sectors such as tourism, culture, science and technology, sports, higher defense studies and anti-narcotics cooperation. In addition, 21 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) have been signed between universities and research institutions of the two countries.

In May 2025, Pakistan and Italy signed a labor mobility and migration agreement that created 10,500 Italy-specific employment opportunities for Pakistani workers, becoming Pakistan’s first labor accord with a European country.
