LAHORE: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) in Lahore has received technical support worth 12 million euros from the European Union.
The funds will be used to establish a Project Management Unit (PMU) and to expedite the completion of the Babu Sabu Water Treatment Plant.
The upgraded facility will help in reducing environmental pollution by providing cleaner water to the River Ravi.
WASA’s Managing Director, Ghufran Ahmed, expressed that the support from the EU will play a crucial role in fulfilling the city’s water supply and sanitation needs.
This partnership will improve the quality of life for Lahore residents by providing them with access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities.
The aid agreement was signed in November 2021, and the project is set to begin in January 2023. It will be executed in stages, starting with staff development and training, followed by the upgrading of the water treatment facilities.
