KP’s Rashakai SEZ Set to Commence Operations in March, Generating Over 250,000 Jobs

PESHAWAR: The CEO of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development & Management Company (KP-EZDMC), Javed Iqbal Khattak, has announced that the Rashakai Special Economic Zone (SEZ), which is a high-priority project, will be operational by March.

The SEZ has been developed under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework and covers an area of 1,000 acres.

According to CEO Khattak, the infrastructure development for the SEZ is almost complete, with 98% of the work done.

This will make Rashakai the first of four prioritized SEZs to become operational.

The project is a flagship of the KP government, and its purpose is to establish export-oriented industrial units in the zone.

The power transmission and transformation, which are essential components of the project, are also near completion.

Additionally, the SEZ is expected to generate a considerable number of employment opportunities ranging between 250,000 to 300,000.

CEO Khattak also shared that 18 Chinese and Pakistani companies have signed joint venture agreements, and many investors have started constructing their industrial units in the SEZ.

The project aims to boost the economic growth of the region and promote industrial cooperation between Pakistan and China.
