Police Officer Injured in Attack by Armed Landlords of Islamabad’s Shehzad Town

ISLAMABAD: A police officer was injured on Thursday when local landlords, armed with axes and sticks, attacked a police party in the Shehzad Town area of the federal capital.

According to sources, the police had been called in to clear land owned by the Supreme Court Housing Society.

The police officials claimed that 2 suspects were arrested on the spot and a case was filed against them with the Shehzad Town Police Station.

Besides, there were unconfirmed reports that the violent landlords had attacked the police party, injuring the Station House Officer of the Shehzad Town Police Station and 2 other officers.

According to initial details, the management of the Supreme Court Housing Society had acquired a piece of land from locals in the Shehzad Town area for building houses for the employees of the apex court.

When the management visited the site for demarcation, local landlords started resisting, and the police were called in.

However, the violent locals, including Iftikhar alias Khara, attacked the police and injured an officer and the police retaliated, arresting 2 suspects, and taking them to the police station for further investigation.

A police spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that a police officer had been injured when local landlords attacked a police party called in to maintain law and order in the area.
