PM Shehbaz Sharif Expresses Displeasure over Delay in Lahore Bridge and CBD Underpass Projects

LAHORE: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif visited the under-construction Lahore bridge and CBD underpass to assess work progress.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work and the shutdown program by LESCO.

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) project worth Rs1712 million had been delayed for two years due to the issuance of a no-objection certificate, which the prime minister found unacceptable.

He directed legal action against the official responsible for the delay and requested that the process be completed within two weeks.

The construction work was initially scheduled for two months, but the prime minister instructed the officials to complete it within one month.

Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Syed Mohsin Naqvi, chief secretary, and other senior officials accompanied the prime minister.

The prime minister also visited the CBD underpass, and he found the delay unreasonable.

He questioned the appointment of a third party for validation and suggested appointing a renowned third party at the cost of a construction company.

He directed the relevant officials to provide special incentives to the workforce to expedite the project’s completion.
