LAHORE: Syed Ali Azfar Nasir, the Punjab Minister for Housing, Urban Development, and Public Health, visited the offices of the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA).
The minister was briefed on various projects, including the construction of three barrages, seven Wastewater Treatment Plants (WTPs) with modern infrastructure, and river training works.
The RUDA team also discussed other projects with the minister, including ChaharBagh, Entertainment City, Sapphire Bay, the remodeling of Kalma Chowk, the up gradation of Walton Road, the provision of service corridors, and the induction of water harvesting wells.
The minister praised RUDA’s efforts, calling the projects a ‘twin city concept’ that focuses on urban regeneration and environmental sustainability.
He expressed gratitude to RUDA and Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA) teams for their hard work.
RUDA CEO Imran Amin also noted that these projects would provide high-quality facilities to the general public, add value to Punjab, and attract international investors, contributing to Pakistan’s prosperity.
The rejuvenation of River Ravi, according to the minister, would revive the socio-economic and cultural moorings of Pakistani society, with Lahore becoming a new metropolitan hub at the crosscurrents of social mobility.
He also praised PCBDDA projects and said that such initiatives throughout Punjab would be a testament to the CBD’s excellent development work.
These projects, therefore, hold immense potential to boost Punjab’s economy and social development, while also enhancing environmental sustainability.
