ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has carried out an operation against illegal occupants and encroachers of properties lying with the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) on the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the Dr. Shuaib Suddle Commission.
According to sources, the ETPB properties were illegally occupied by land-grabbing mafias and encroachers for decades.
This situation was damaging the image of the country as the properties are a trust for religious minorities, the FIA sources said.
The details suggest that the FIA successfully retrieved over 3,574 acres of urban and agricultural property worth over Rs. 25 billion and handed it over to ETPB.
Furthermore, the outstanding rent/dues of Rs. 703.202 million from the defaulters of ETPB properties have also been recovered by FIA and have been deposited in the national exchequer.
The FIA Director General Mohsin Hassan Butt has directed the department to take immediate action against the encroachers and illegal occupants of properties lying with ETPB all over the country.
The FIA executed its assigned duty efficiently and achieved commendable results in the retrieval of properties and recovery of dues, which is unprecedented in the 47-year history of FIA, the DG said.
Besides, Butt has also appreciated the efforts of the officers who have rendered extraordinary services for the retrieval of ETPB properties/recovery of outstanding dues and has nominated 5 officers for the Pakistan Civil Award-2023.
Dr. Shoaib Suddle Commission has also appreciated the efforts of FIA and recommended the nominated officers for Pakistan Civil Awards for rendering invaluable services to the country.
