Balochistan Digitizes Land Records to Enhance Transparency

QUETTA: The land record digitization initiative in Balochistan is set to revolutionize the province’s administrative processes, increase transparency, and prevent corruption and land grabbing in the future.

According to Mitha Khan Kakar, Adviser to the Balochistan Chief Minister on Information, this digitization effort is part of a broader drive to digitize all government departments and promote efficiency.

During the announcement, Kakar highlighted the government’s vision to provide digital facilities in key areas such as Gwadar, Pishin, Jaffarabad, and Quetta.

These digital services will include individual registries, maps, land tax collection, and SMS services.

Besides, the ultimate goal is to reduce land disputes through streamlined record-keeping, which will contribute to economic development, trade growth, and increased agricultural activities in the province.

Kakar further mentioned an important agreement signed between the Balochistan government and Google, which includes providing scholarships to 3,000 Balochi youth.

The introduction of the land revenue management system will address the challenges faced by residents and provide convenient access to online information from the comfort of their homes.

Shah also highlighted the youth’s significant benefits from the IT facilities, as a comprehensive training program has been initiated, including scholarships in the IT sector for 3,000 students in collaboration with Google.
