Development Work on Punjab’s Nullah Leh Expressway Project to Begin Shortly

RAWALPINDI: Dr. Jamal Nasir, the Punjab caretaker minister for primary and secondary healthcare, revealed that funds for the Nullah Leh Expressway and Maternal and Child Hospital have been received.

As a result, work on these crucial projects will commence shortly.

Dr. Nasir made this announcement while conducting a review of the drainage situation at Gawalmandi and Arya Mohalla following recent rains.

The minister was accompanied by Kanwar Dilshad, the chief minister’s aide, Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General Saif Anwar Jappa, and Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema, the delegation assessed the drainage conditions in the area.

The managing director of the Water and Sanitation Agency and other concerned officials were also part of the inspection.

During the review, Dr. Nasir emphasized the need for vigilance due to the possibility of heavy rains.

He pointed out that when it rained 150 mm, Rawalpindi often faced the risk of submersion.

However, he commended the city administration for their effective efforts, noting that despite over 200 mm of rain, the drains did not overflow.

The minister also highlighted ongoing actions against individuals involved in irresponsible waste disposal and encroachment near Nullah Leh.

In addition, he revealed that drones were being utilized to monitor the flow of water, aiding in efficient management and preventive measures.
