LAHORE: The Punjab government has issued a clarification regarding the land allocation for the establishment of the LGH-II project, a crucial emergency facility planned near the Kot Lakhpat fruit market in Lahore.
As per the details, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has assigned a parcel of land measuring 57 kanal for this significant endeavor, aimed at enhancing healthcare facilities in the region.
Moreover, the spokesman for the Punjab government emphasized that the allocation of land for the LGH-II project falls under the jurisdiction of the Lahore Development Authority.
He stated that neither the interim government of Punjab nor the caretaker Chief minister has played a role in altering the designated land from the health department.
In addition, the statement further highlighted that the LDA’s decision to allocate land for the LGH-II project is underpinned by the principles of transparency, fairness, and responsible land management.
However, a report from the office of the Director General Monitoring and Evaluation of the Punjab government has surfaced, shedding light on the allocation of 122 kanal of land initially designated for the construction of the new LGH-II project.
According to the official report, the envisioned scope of the project involves the construction of a new hospital building that would be an extension of the existing LGH.
The report further outlines that under the guidance of the former Chief Minister (Buzdar), the LDA had initially allocated the larger land parcel to the health department.
However, due to subsequent changes in the government, the land allocation was revised, leading to a reduction from 122 to 57 kanal.
Consequently, as the allocated land area was reduced, the scope and estimated cost of the LGH-II project were subsequently adjusted, as mentioned in the official report.
