LAHORE: A comprehensive plan to tackle corruption within the Local Government & Community Development Department has been formulated under the guidance of the Minister for Information and Local Government, Amir Mir.
To spearhead this effort, a three-member committee has been established to closely examine matters within the department.
As per the details, Municipal officers responsible for planning across the nine zones of Lahore have been directed to furnish a thorough record of the initial three months of the current fiscal year.
This record encompasses a range of information, including data on illicit constructions, notices issued by the local government department, filed FIRs, and structures that have been either demolished or sealed.
Additionally, details about sanctioned and unsanctioned maps for commercial, residential, and industrial projects across all zones of the city will be compiled.
Moreover, this assessment also extends to evaluating revenues and fees collected during the past three months.
By the minister’s directive, a committee composed of senior department officers will meticulously review these records.
The objective is to ensure the accuracy and completeness of information sourced from the planning offices. Furthermore, the three-member committee will scrutinize records to identify instances of negligence on the part of officials.
In addition, it will also delve into the tally of approved building plans for commercial, residential, and industrial structures in various Lahore zones over the past three months and investigate any underlying reasons for rejections.
Besides, the legality of approved building plans will also be closely examined by this committee.
