ISLAMABAD: Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, the federal minister of law and justice, while attending the 1st International Housing Expo, emphasized the necessity for adequate regulation of the housing industry to stop the uncontrolled expansion of housing societies.
According to sources, despite several restrictions being in place, Tarar stated that the unorganized expansion of housing societies was on the rise, which was not a positive trend.
He said regulated activity in the housing sector was vital to fulfilling the expanding housing demands of the people, but the existing regulations were causing uncertainty as the country’s capital ought to be transformed into a role-model community for future generations.
Besides, the federal minister also pledged to work with the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) to update the construction bylaws for commercial and industrial structures to meet modern business demands.
The Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) current building bylaws, according to ICCI President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, were created many years ago and do not meet the demands of modern construction.
He encouraged the government to work with him on updating and revising the aforementioned bylaws.
