CDA Conducts Joint Anti-Encroachment Operation with DMA

ISLAMABAD: The administration of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) carried out extensive encroachment operations at Simly Dam, Barakahu, and the fruits and vegetables market on Wednesday.

In a coordinated anti-encroachment operation, the ICT administration, Capital Development Authority (CDA), and DMA (Municipal Administration Directorate) demolished unlawful buildings and encroachments on the double road of the Simly Dam, Barakahu, and adjoining areas.

According to an ICT press release, the operation was supervised by Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, as all the unlawful structures were destroyed in order to keep the area’s traffic moving freely.

Furthermore, ICT teams also carried out an anti-encroachment operation at a fruit and vegetable market, where they detained 3 offenders, impounded 6 carts that were obstructing the main double road, and recovered 23 kg of plastic bags.

Besides, the assistant commissioner secretariat checked the quality, overall cleanliness, and conformity to the announced pricing as well as the display of the DC rate list of necessary items in Banigala.

Additionally, the violators were issued warnings and fines in accordance with the law.

The sources confirmed that 3 people were detained for overcharging and other businesses and booths were checked to make sure the government-notified pricing list was being followed while a restaurant manager was also booked for poor sanitary standards.

As per the details, 131 locations were examined by ACs from various areas, who also detained 5 profiteers and fined others Rs. 13,500 for overcharging while 9 professional beggars were also detained during the operation.
