ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the federal government would invest at least Rs5 billion to construct houses for flood victims in the province.
During his visit to flood-affected regions in Khairpur, the prime minister revealed that PKR 4.80 billion had been paid to the prime minister’s account for flood survivors. He also mentioned that further donations were expected.
Even though prime minister Sharif declared that recovery operations were well underway across the country, there were still a lot of inundated areas in Khairpur and Dadu.
He said the government would continue with restoration and rehabilitation operations, adding that at least eight million families were now affected by the calamity.
He added that almost 20 million people including 9 million children were waiting for assistance.
