MARDAN: Deputy Commissioner Mardan, Captain (Retd) Abdul Rehman, has decided to take stern action against illegal housing societies.
In this regard, a meeting was presided over by the DC, which was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Engineer Syed Shahzeb, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Mardan, Ayesha Tahir and AC Takhtbai, ACs Katlang, Rustam and Ghari Kapura.
During the meeting, the DC was briefed about the societies that have been operating across the district without any legal standing or no objection certificate.
He was informed that these societies had been sealed several times in the past and were refrained to sell their plots.
The DC said that the owners of such societies will face strict actions, and the transfer of land would also be banned.
It is important to note that the societies were established on agricultural land which resulted in food shortages in the district.
