KOHAT: The members of the local government and elders from the Gandiali Bala and Payan areas have criticized the authorities for failing to build a road to the area, pave the streets, and permit development projects.
An official announcement stated that assistant commissioner Usman Ashraf had handled all of the issues of the Gandiali people during a ‘Khuli Ketchehry’, however, according to Akhtar Jameel, a local body representative from Gandiali Bala, no such forum was held.
As it relates to a ‘Khuli Ketchehry’ hosted in the Taulanj Gandiali area, an official who was contacted confirmed that the comment had been incorrectly ascribed to Gandiali.
According to sources, the tax department authorities required villagers to pay bribes to permit development on a plot of property that had been transferred in their names in 1860.
He said that an Rs.15 million worth of canal project had been shelved while elders of the area said a bridge on the Rawalpindi Road in Ghulam Banda area and construction of a road to Gandiali Bala had long been awaited.
