RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has conducted an operation against unauthorized commercial buildings, sealing Al-Karim Marquee at GT Road.
The authority took action on the directions of RDA Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza and Director General Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa.
The action was taken under section 39 and section 8.2(2) of the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2020. In addition, the Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC) Wing of the RDA cleared debris stacking at Bareen Road near Rabia Bungalows.
The owner of the illegal building is accused of violating approved plans and the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976, as well as constructing the illegal commercial building without the necessary approval and No Objection Certificates.
The RDA DG has instructed the LU&BC Wing to take strict action against illegal and unauthorized residential and commercial constructions and encroachments.
The authority has also ordered a survey of fees and charges for the approval of illegal residential and commercial buildings, complementary maps, and plans of buildings in the controlled area of the RDA.
The RDA has urged the general public to show moral responsibility and remove any encroachments in order to avoid further losses.
