FBR Opens New Office in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: To accelerate proceedings of appeals made by significant corporate companies situated in Islamabad against the tax department, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has established a new office of Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals-V), Islamabad.

By an order released by the FBR, a new office of Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals-V), Islamabad is constituted under the FBR with immediate effect.

This is done in the exercise of powers granted under Section 4(1)(r) of the FBR Act[1]2007.

According to sources, the Commissioner of Inland Revenue (Appeals) of Islamabad has had his job reduced through this move as the burden of the current Commissioners of Inland Revenue (Appeals) has been allocated and rationalized to expeditiously resolve the cases.

As per the details, currently, Islamabad is home to 4 Commissioners of Inland Revenue (Appeals) and the Large Taxpayers Office (LTO) Islamabad’s matters are handled by the Commissioner of Inland Revenue (Appeals-I), Islamabad.

The Corporate Tax Office, Islamabad’s complaints would also now be handled by Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals-IV), Islamabad.

According to sources, the Commissioner of Inland Revenue (Appeals-V), Islamabad, is anticipated to lighten the pressure on Islamabad’s significant business cases.
