KMC Hands Over Land for Red Line BRT Bus Depot Construction

KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has transferred land to the Sindh government’s Trans Karachi organization for the construction of a bus depot for the Red Line BRT project.

As per the details, the land is located near Aladdin Park and will serve as the terminus of Pakistan’s first biogas-powered bus service.

At a ceremony marking the land transfer, Sindh Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon emphasized the importance of completing the project as quickly as possible in order to alleviate traffic congestion in Karachi.

The Red Line BRT project involves building a 26.6-kilometer corridor with 24 stations in the city, including a 24.2-kilometer Red Line corridor and a 2.4-kilometer common corridor segment, as well as feeder and direct transit routes to nearby districts.

It is important to mention that the facility will be powered by biogas, and a 31-acre biogas plant will be constructed near Bhains Colony.
