LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has recently made changes to the Lahore Master Plan-2050 by converting 33,000 acres of previously designated or approved housing land into green areas.
According to LDA Director General Aamir Ahmad Khan, 27,000 acres on the north side of Lahore, located in Kala Shah Kaku and Muridke in Sheikhupura district, have been rezoned for agricultural use.
Additionally, 6,000 acres of land along the Bambawali-Ravi-Bedian Canal have been designated for green spaces and national strategic policies.
Additionally, 12,000 acres of land that was not originally considered brown area was also included for the first time to accommodate the city’s projected population growth of 25 million residents by 2050.
He also added that the Master Plan-2050 was prepared by competent French consultants with input from Lahore’s top independent environmentalists and urban experts.
