A group from the Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) met with the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, at his office to discuss the challenges faced by the construction industry.
As per the details, the delegation presented several proposals to promote the construction industry. The Caretaker CM assured the delegation that implementable proposals would be enforced to support the industry.
A key decision was made to review existing building construction laws based on industry experts’ recommendations.
The idea of establishing Residential Management Committees in private housing societies was also discussed. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of revitalizing the construction industry to restore employment opportunities for millions of people.
He instructed the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and other institutions to prioritize making building laws more user-friendly.
A committee, led by the Commissioner of Lahore/Director General of LDA, was formed to develop final recommendations in consultation with ABAD’s office-bearers and other stakeholders.
The delegation included Gohar Ijaz, Engineer Akbar Sheikh, Hafiz Muhammad Nauman, Sheraz J Manoo, Ayub Sabir Izhar, Waheed Ahmad Butt, Khalid Mehmood Sheikh (Company Secretary of ABAD), and Kamran Shujjah.
