ACE Exposes Wrongdoings in Faisalabad Master Plan Approval

FAISALABAD: The anti-corruption establishment (ACE) has made a significant discovery, exposing widespread corruption in the approval process of the Faisalabad Master Plan, according to ARY News reports.

As per the details shared by an ACE spokesperson, the former Chairman of Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA), Mian Waris Aziz, and former DG of MDA, Zahid Ikram, are alleged to be involved in causing damage worth millions to the national treasury.

It is further revealed that these individuals allegedly took bribes amounting to millions of rupees to illegally convert agricultural land into commercial property.

Adding to the complexities, Zahid Ikram, who was appointed as DG Multan Development Authority, manipulated the master plan through a building inspector named Honey Shehzad, who acted as a frontman.

In an attempt to apprehend Zahid Ikram, the anti-corruption Faisalabad conducted a raid at the MDA office, but he managed to evade arrest.

Meanwhile, cases have been registered against both Waris Aziz and Zahid Ikram.

In a related matter, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has granted a stay order on Lahore Master Plan 2050, effectively halting construction work on the project until further notice.

It is worth noting that the approval of Lahore Master Plan 2050, which took place on December 21, has faced legal challenges.

The petitioner argued that the court had ordered the government to take measures to curb environmental pollution and requested the court to stop any illegal construction work under the pretext of the Lahore master plan.
