Administration to Preserve Heritage and Beautify 3 Districts to Promote Tourism

BAHAWALPUR: The divisional administration has announced a plan to preserve heritage, monuments, and historical places, and beautify three districts to promote tourism and recreation facilities.

As per the details, the decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Divisional Commissioner Dr. Ehtesham Anwar Mahar.

The meeting was attended by three deputy commissioners from Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalnagar, along with officials from Cholistan Development Authority and Parks and Horticulture Authority.

All available government resources will be utilized to beautify the three districts, and public-private partnerships will be formed to set up recreation facilities in identified areas.

The public parks, playgrounds, and historic buildings will be renovated with modern lighting to make them attractive to visitors.

Dr. Ehtesham Anwar Mahar also directed the officials to add more recreational facilities, equip public parks with the necessary equipment, and create awareness among people regarding waste management.

The deputy commissioners briefed the commissioner about their districts’ ongoing uplift projects.

It is worth mentioning that most of the heritage sites, including historical buildings and crumbling forts, are located in the vast Cholistan desert along the Indian border, touching the territorial areas of Rajasthan.
