ISLAMABAD: The Steering Committee on Sustainable Development Goals Achievement Program (SAP), led by Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, has requested the Finance Division to provide exemption or relaxation to transfer unutilized funds from the Pak-PWD account to the PLA-III account.

This measure aims to prevent the funds from lapsing and ensure they remain available for utilization. The committee held its 37th meeting on May 19, 2023, where they confirmed the minutes of the previous meeting and discussed the allocation of funds for ongoing schemes in district Swat.

The Ministry of Housing & Works was instructed not to use additional funds from the savings until further directions.

The committee also approved the release of Rs. 1 billion for development schemes in Punjab under SAP and discussed the need for additional funds of Rs. 5 billion for financing schemes under the Sustainable Development Goals.

The committee granted approval for the allocation of these funds and directed the Cabinet Division to submit a summary for the additional grant.

Various other proposals for fund transfers and scheme execution were also discussed and approved during the meeting.

The committee recommended that relevant ministries and provincial governments identify schemes in line with SAP guidelines by June 30, 2023, and complete the necessary formalities for approval to ensure timely implementation in the next financial year.
