LAHORE: The Secretary General of the Kiln Owners Association, Meher Abdul Haq, has declared that brick kilns in the central and southern regions of Punjab will not operate during Ramzan due to decreased sales and increased production costs.
The association acknowledged that this decision will have an impact on the construction industry, as the supply will be reduced.
However, the kiln owners have justified their decision by citing rising coal and petroleum product prices, transportation expenses, and decreased sales.
The Secretary General also mentioned that the brick kiln industry is currently experiencing a recession, with many kilns shutting down and the ones still operational selling their products at lower prices.
Moreover, it was stated that kilns in upper Punjab will remain open as they had closed during the winter season.
