ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Captain Noor Ul Amin Mengal, has expressed his commitment to designating sports as the identity of Islamabad.
He emphasized the importance of improving sports facilities as a priority for the CDA and announced a mega project to upgrade sports grounds.
Speaking as a special guest at a cricket tournament organized by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Mengal highlighted the significance of providing sports facilities to the youth to build a better society.
The tournament involved teams from ICCI, CDA, Media Anchor, and ICT XI, with the participation of senior officials from CDA, including Senior Vice President of Islamabad Chamber Faad Waheed, Vice President Engineer Azhar Islam, and Zafar Bakhtawari, among others.
Mengal stated that the CDA is taking significant steps to improve sports in Islamabad and aims to provide complete sports facilities in every sector of the city.
Furthermore, he also added that efforts are underway to enhance the condition of existing grounds, and plans are in place for special sports enclaves.
Additionally, jogging tracks have been made an essential feature in major parks.
Mengal welcomed the interest shown by Islamabad Chamber in promoting sports and expressed hope for collaboration between the Chamber and the CDA to further promote sports activities.
President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, emphasized the importance of sports as a positive alternative for the youth in society.
He mentioned the Chamber’s ongoing project to construct a multi-purpose sports ground in Islamabad, which will benefit not only Chamber members but also the wider community.
Bakhtawari stressed the need for sports promotion in educational institutions to foster talent at the grassroots level.
He also welcomed Mengal’s dedication to promoting sports and called for cooperation from other institutions to improve the overall sports landscape in Islamabad.
