CDA Demolishes Around 100 Structures in F-11, Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) conducted a major anti-encroachment operation on Sunday, I which around 100 houses and structures were demolished in Bheka Syedan F-11, a locality in sector F-11 of Islamabad.

The area had been a subject of dispute between the CDA and locals, who had claimed that their compensation cases were pending since 2011.

Despite several attempts by the CDA to acquire possession of the land, litigation had hindered its execution.

However, the civic agency recently cleared various stays, enabling it to conduct operations to clear the area. The demolition drive was carried out with heavy machinery backed by police and local administration.

According to CDA officials, almost 65% of the area has been cleared, and the locals have been given time until the operation restarts in a few days to remove their structures voluntarily.

The CDA has cleared almost all compensation cases, but over 100 locals still claim their compensation is pending.

It is important to note that the CDA had acquired sector F-11 through three awards announced in 1980, 82, and 85.

After clearing all land, the CDA will conduct necessary development work before handing over plots to allottees.

The area where the operation was conducted is planned to be a class three shopping center, which will be auctioned against billions of rupees.

The CDA’s enforcement wing has been active for the last one week, first demolishing hundreds of structures from sector C-13 before moving towards F-11.

CDA Chairman Noorul Amin Mengal had authorized the member estate Afnan Alam to conduct the mega operation in Islamabad.

The CDA is expected to submit a report before the Islamabad High Court regarding operations and the overall status of sector F-11.
