ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has come under scrutiny after it was accused of distributing funds to its officials despite the country’s current financial crisis.
As per the documents revealed by 24NewsHD TV, CDA granted Rs13.82 million to 180 officials as an ex-gratia payment for the auction of commercial and residential plots.
While the auction committee members received an amount equivalent to four months’ basic pay, the remaining officers and staff from BS-12 to BS-18 were granted one month’s basic pay.
The CDA has been accused of auctioning off valuable land without interruption to meet its extravagant expenses.
This move by the CDA has not gone unnoticed, as it is being criticized for disregarding the Prime Minister’s call for austerity measures.
Officials in CDA grade 17 and above receive a 150% executive allowance, and even officers on deputation receive unreasonable benefits in the form of allowances, salaries, and perks.
Following the plot auction, the CDA distributed Rs13.82 million to officers, including three members.
Member Finance, Member State, Member Planning, DG Law, and Director Public Relations received four basic salaries each. Additionally, Director Finance, Director State, Director Urban, Regional Planning, Deputy Director Finance Wing, and Cost Accountant were granted four basic salaries.
At the same time, eleven officers, including Member State, Member Planning, Member Finance, and DG Law, received a total salary of over Rs5.6 million.
Staff officers, directors, drivers, deputy messengers, security guards, and other staff received one basic salary each.
