CDA Extends Tender Date for Acquisition of Electric Buses in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: On the request of companies interested in Islamabad’s electric bus project, the CDA has extended the deadline for the tender.

According to sources, these companies are struggling to find and purchase 150 buses for six routes. It’s important to remember that CDA officials have the choice to utilize diesel buses if electric ones are more expensive.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) expects that private enterprises would invest more than Rs 6 billion in the purchase and supply of electric buses in Islamabad.

The project would be completed on the basis of a Public Private Partnership (PPP). Turkey’s Renowned Al Barak and some Chinese companies have shown interest in the mega transport project.

It is important to mention that the CDA has also faced some issues regarding the availability of 150 buses on 6 routes. Therefore, it announced that it will not buy any buses and instead the private companies shall ensure the buses’ availability.

Some of the CDA officials also shared that the PIMS would be the junction for the proposed six routes.
