ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) have suspended the construction of the official residence of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) at the Ministers’ Enclave due to unspecified reasons.
As per the details, the CDA had published an advertisement calling for tenders to construct the residence at an estimated cost of Rs. 100 million, but the project was criticized by social media users for its timing amidst the country’s financial crisis.
Officials from the ECP confirmed that the project was stopped on April 14, and the letter addressing the cancellation was sent to the CDA chairman and member engineering.
The details suggest that the ECP has stated that due to the country’s financial situation, the project has been put on hold/canceled with immediate effect.
