CDA Warns Housing Societies Against Delayed Building Plan Submissions

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has warned all private societies against delaying the submission of construction plans for approval and issuance of the completion certificate.

The CDA Building Control Directorate has warned that late payments would result in fines and penalties.

Nasir Jameel Butt, Building Control Director (North), stated in a press conference that the authority would soon launch an operation against such buildings that had not obtained official approvals and completion certificates from CDA within three months of the initial construction period expiry.

He further stated that CDA intended to reclaim the fine and approval costs from such societies that had not submitted their records to the CDA.

It is vital to note that CDA has implemented a new approval system and formed two separate directorates to oversee construction operations in the city.

The new directorates would be in charge of overseeing commercial and residential construction rules as well as awarding completion certificates for structures and dwellings.

According to the guidelines, the authority has the right to impose fines of up to PKR 5,000 and PKR 10,000 per month respectively for residential and commercial projects for delayed approvals.
