CDWP Approves Development Projects worth Billions

The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved seven development projects totaling PKR 115.80 billion.

The decision was made during a meeting presided over by the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal.

The initiatives were associated with the Ministries of Communications, Housing and Works, Planning, and Higher Education Commission (HEC).

The development schemes included the following:

  • National Programme Post-Flood Reconstruction: Climate Resilience Enhancement in Balochistan and Other Provinces, which cost PKR 88 billion
  • The Strengthening of Labs in 5 Leading Universities – UET Peshawar, Taxila, Lahore, Khuzdar, and NED Karachi – which would cost PKR 6.636 billion
  • The National Sports City at Narowal (Revised Third PC) at a cost of PKR 5.760 billion
  • Yarik-Tank Road, DI Khan Development Package at a cost of PKR 4.418 billion
  • Competitive Grants Programme for Policy-Oriented Research at the cost of PKR 1.756 billion
  • Improvement/ Widening of Spera Ragha Road from Kanozai Cross to Loralai Kila Saifullah Road at the cost of PKR 6.136 billion
  • Innovation Centre and Innovation Park at UET Lahore Sub-campus at a cost of PKR 2.966 billion.

It is important to note that The National Programme Post-Flood Reconstruction: Enhancing Climate Resilience in Balochistan and Other Provinces is sponsored by the planning ministry.

Furthermore, the project includes the restoration and reconstruction of community infrastructures such as irrigation, drainage, flood protection, roadways, and other community amenities; the reconstruction of damaged residential units; livelihood assistance, natural resource management, and watershed management.
