Cement Industry Loses Ground: Domestic and Export Shipments Drop by 21%

ISLAMABAD: The country’s cement industry has seen a decline in domestic and export shipments during the first half of the current fiscal year.

The total domestic and export shipments fell to 21.764 million tons from 27.456 million tons during the same period of the previous fiscal year, a decrease of 21%.

It is important to note that the mentioned decline is attributed to the country’s economic downturn.

Domestic shipments also decreased by 16.77% from 24.065 million tons to 20.030 million tons over this period.

According to the All-Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), cement shipments decreased by 15.55% from December 1 to December 22.

It was shared that on December 22, 3.881 million tons of cement were shipped, compared to 4.595 million tons shipped during the same month of the previous fiscal year.

Additionally, South-based mills shipped 3.508 million tons of cement domestically from July to December 2022, which is a decrease of 10.10% from the 3.902 million tons shipped during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
