ISLAMABAD: The civic agency is working tirelessly to finish 5 major development projects before the incumbent government’s constitutional term concludes.
An official revealed that the federal government has issued strong directives to complete these multi-billion projects in the coming weeks.
The details suggest that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is eager to inaugurate them before the National Assembly’s term ends.
He has been closely monitoring the progress of these projects every month as the ongoing mega projects nearing completion include, the Bhara Kahu Bypass, IJP Road, Margalla Avenue, 10th Avenue, and the expansion of Islamabad Expressway.
The Bhara Kahu Bypass project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in October 2022.
The 10.4-kilometer-long Margalla Avenue Road is being constructed from GT Road to D-12 for Rs. 2 billion.
The renovation and widening of IJP Road are also underway. Additionally, the expansion of the Islamabad Expressway from Koral to T-Chowk on GT Road is being carried out around the clock.
Apart from these projects, the civic agency is also dedicated to another development project involving rehabilitation and improvement work on various roads in areas including Shah Allah Ditta, Golra, Sangjani, Sarai Kharboza, Gokina, Mandla, Bari Imam, Sanjalian, Banigala, Phulgran, Sakreela, Naiabadi, Huzaifa Town, and Malpur.
Although these projects were inaugurated with ambitious deadlines, the civic agency faced numerous challenges, leading to delays.
Furthermore, changes in leadership within the agency also negatively impacted the progress of these projects.
The official stated that they are confident to complete all five mega projects in the next few weeks and the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will hold the inauguration ceremony.
