Civic Agency Warns Against Illegal Tree Cutting in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad civic agency has issued a stern warning to anyone found guilty of illegally cutting trees in the city.

According to sources, the Environment Wing of the civic agency has stated that it will thoroughly pursue cases against those involved in tree-cutting and ensure that they face punishment according to the law.

The government has previously announced a zero-tolerance policy against the timber mafia and has banned the cutting of trees in the Islamabad Capital Territory.

Furthermore, the National Assembly Standing Committee on Government Assurances has also directed the federal government to take strict action against the timber mafia.

In addition, the CDA has now moved the Islamabad High Court seeking action against the owner of a private housing society involved in a recent tree-chopping case.

Besides, the authorities have emphasized that the protection of trees is their priority, and anyone found cutting them will be punished accordingly.
