CM Punjab Lays Foundation Stone of 2 Mega Projects to Reduce Traffic Congestion

LAHORE: The Chief Minister of Punjab, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, has initiated two large-scale projects aimed at addressing traffic congestion in Lahore.

These projects include the renovation and enhancement of the Saggian Road and the construction of the Shahdra Multilevel Flyover.

The Saggian Road renovation project is expected to cost PKR 4.51 billion and will reportedly save an annual fuel cost of PKR 500 million.

The Shahdra Multilevel Flyover, on the other hand, is projected to cost PKR 8.9 billion and is expected to be completed within 10 months.

As per the details, the Saggian Road project is divided into two packages, one stretching from Ravi Bridge to Lahore-Sheikhupura Road and the other from Phool Mandi Chowk to Faizpur Interchange (M-2 Motorway).

The project’s Package 1 is 3.9 kilometers long and 15 feet wide, featuring a three-lane dual carriageway, while Package 2 is 4.4 kilometers long and 110 feet wide, featuring a two-lane dual carriageway, with estimated costs of PKR 1.5457 billion and PKR 1.5273 billion respectively.

It is important to note that both of these projects are part of the CM’s PKR 20 billion mega projects package for the city, which also includes the construction of the Samanabad Underpass, the Samanabad Cricket Ground, and the Gulshan-e-Ravi T Junction Underpass.
