LAHORE: Punjab’s Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, has said that the Punjab government would establish a Sports Endowment Fund worth Rs. 2 billion for the promotion of sports in the province.
The CM emphasized that athletes would be sent overseas for training and that sports activities would be fostered in the province with the creation of a Sports Endowment Fund.
Besides, the Sports Endowment Fund would also be used to provide athletes with sports scholarships while the CM said that foreign coaches would also be invited to Pakistan to train local athletes.
Elahi added that players from other provinces, besides Punjab, would also be sent abroad for training.
These athletes would receive instruction in athletics, boxing, wrestling, hockey, football, volleyball, badminton, basketball, tent-pegging, and other sports, he assured.
The CM said that a sports arena facility would be made available to players in the province and that money from the Sports Endowment Fund would be used to support athletes.
