Commissioner Sukkur Issues Notices to 58 Land Grabbers of Forestland

SUKKUR: On Wednesday, 58 powerful land grabbers, including one with ties to Peshawar, received notices from the Sukkur commissioner for allegedly using unlawful leases to occupy 912 acres of forest land in the Naro region of the Khairpur district.

It was revealed by official sources that the commissioner had responded to a complaint made by Ziadullah Leghari, a forest officer for Khairpur.

Leghari had accused revenue officials of giving influential people 912 acres of forest land in a scheme involving the barrage mukhtiarkar of Khairpur.

According to the reports, Zafar Pathan, Allah Warayo Rajar, Darya Khan Rajar, Peerano Bhambhro, Mitho Lashari, Abdul Sattar Rind, Hasan Bakhsh Bhambharo, Shahnawaz Laghari, Mir Khan Mangrio, and others were the recipients of the fraudulent leases with expired dates.

The sources stated that the commissioner had requested that all forestland tenants come before him on January 4, 2023, in his office in Sukkur with all necessary paperwork.

The reports show that Ziadullah Leghari, a forest official, followed court orders to evict unauthorized settlers from forest land in Naro and the other districts near Khairpur.

Inspecting the records of the alleged occupants, who claimed to have obtained the forestland on a lease, Leghari discovered that revenue officials had given illegal leases to the powerful individuals in cooperation with the barrage mukhtiarkar.

The sources also claimed that Leghari is known to have also previously expelled several illegal occupants from forestland.
