GIGLIT BALTISTAN: The Nagar Highway, a 40-kilometer road located in the Nagar and Hunza regions, is set to begin construction soon.
This new alternative route to the Karakoram Highway will start at Pissan on the left side of the Hunza River, run through Nagar, and end at Hoper Nagar.
The completed road will connect with the KKH at Ganish Hunza, offering improved accessibility and increased tourist opportunities to the inner regions of Nagar.
With a cost of PKR 4 billion, the Nagar Highway is considered a safer option during the summer months, as it will be less vulnerable to the effects of melting glaciers and flooding compared to the Karakoram Highway.
It should be noted that the Nagar Highway is one of the five major projects that have been transferred to the Gilgit Baltistan (GB) government as part of the PKR 85 billion federal Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).
The other projects include the Gilgit-Shandur Road, Astor Valley Road, Boban-Shagharthing Road, and the Darel-Tanger Expressway.
