MULTAN: In a bid to curb the rampant issue of illegal housing schemes and unauthorized commercialization, Deputy Commissioner Omer Jahangir has directed concerned officers to launch a comprehensive action plan in the district.
Presiding over a meeting of the District Planning and Design Committee, the deputy commissioner announced the formation of joint teams comprising officials from the Metropolitan Development Authority (MDA), Municipal Corporation, and District Council.
According to sources, these teams will work together to crack down on the proliferation of illegal housing schemes and unauthorized commercial activities.
Omer Jahangir emphasized the importance of adhering to the district’s master plan to ensure orderly urban development.
He also stated that the city’s infrastructure would be expanded by the approved master plan.
Additionally, measures would be taken to protect agricultural lands and green spaces by designating site development zones.
The details suggest that this move aims to control unauthorized commercial activities and protect valuable agricultural areas.
Before approving new housing colonies, the deputy commissioner stressed the need to conduct thorough assessments of agricultural areas.
Furthermore, a specialized plan will be formulated to cater to the services and commercial facilities required, taking into account the population density of the specific area.
