DG Khan to Get New Dam to Collect Rainwater

DERA GHAZI KHAN: A new dam has been planned to be constructed in Sanghar Town, DG Khan district to collect rainwater.

The estimated cost of Surra Dam is PKR 8 billion. The construction of the project is to begin in December this year while the dam is expected to be completed within 5 years.

According to an official of the Project Management Office for Punjab Barrages, Rehabilitation & Modernization, the government is soon going to disclose a water conversation plan that will irrigate up to 10,000 acres of land.

He also revealed that the Asian Development Bank has funded the planning of the project while the provincial government will be contributing to building costs.

The official also shared that section 4 of the land acquisition has been fulfilled and 1,700 acres for the project have been acquired.
