DG RDA Warns of Strict Action Against Societies Violating Anti-Dengue Protocols

The Director General Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has warned private housing societies that serious legal action would be taken against violators of dengue SOPs, given by the Punjab government.

The Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate of RDA has instructed authorities of the Bahria Town housing project strictly adhere to anti-dengue SOPs to combat the disease.

According to the spokesperson, the district government has issued 3,662 notifications and fined different offenders Rs. 1,432,500 for failing to observe anti-dengue standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Dr. Sajjad stated that anti-dengue efforts were also taking place in private housing societies, whether registered with the RDA, cooperatives, or unregistered housing societies.

The role of private housing societies in preventing the spread of the dengue virus is critical, he said, adding that it is the responsibility of each housing society to provide a dengue-free environment for its residents.

The spokesman further stated that a substantial number of inhabitants of Bahria Town 1, 2, 3, Safari Villas-I, II, and Bahria Phase Town Phase-8 were not taking preventative measures against dengue.

The virus has the potential to spread in various housing societies due to noncompliance with SOPs.

He warned that if the matter was not managed properly, the dengue virus might spread across Bahria Town and the whole city. The RDA will take strict legal action against anyone found breaking the SOPs, he stressed.

According to a recent survey, 1,334 anti-dengue teams investigated 4,303,327 residences from January 1 to date and discovered dengue larvae in 14,954 of them.

Similarly, during outdoor monitoring, 597 teams assessed 1,752,596 locations and found larvae in 1,782 of them.

It had been determined that the recent rains were favorable for dengue mosquito reproduction. In the current environment, the dengue mosquito not only has the potential to multiply quickly but may also be very harmful to people’s health, he added.
