LAHORE: An anonymous official from the Environment Protecting Department (EPD) has requested that the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) include residents of the area affected by the Rehabilitation of Bund Road project in public hearings to gather their input and address their concerns.
The official stated that the LDA should have invited residents of Shera Kot, Talat Park, Babu Sabu, Shaheenabad, and outer parts of Gulshan-e-Ravi to the public hearing.
He added that the authority should at least hold the hearing in a location nearby that is accessible to everyone.
However, the project’s environmental consultant argued that, as per the law, the LDA is only required to advertise the event through public notices in newspapers and is not obligated to include local residents in the hearings.
