Federal Govt Transfers Saudi-Funded AJK Road Contract to NHA

The Federal Government has awarded a Saudi-sponsored execution contract to the National Highway Authority (NHA) for the Neelum Valley Road project in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The Saudi government has opted to fund the project’s development with PKR 7.895 billion from the Saudi Development Fund (SDF).

As per the details, the NHA will carry out the tunnel component of the project on a deposit work basis on the directives of the Executive Committee of the Economic Council (ECNEC).

It is worth noting that the ECNEC has approved a revised proposal for the construction of the 109.2 km Neelum Valley Road segment in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, which includes two tunnels at Kahori, Kamser, and Challpani.

The ECNEC approved the revised project’s reduced scope of work and updated rationalized cost of Rs.9.0108 billion.
