LAHORE: Imran Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, has been sent a notice by the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department on Thursday, asking him to pay luxury tax on his residence located in Zaman Park, Lahore.
The notice stated that Luxury House Tax has been levied by the Government of Punjab on houses with land areas of 2 Kanal, and he was requested to clear arrears amounting to Rs. 3.6 million.
As per the details, the notice was addressed to his late mother, Shaukat Khanum.
According to the sources, the department has warned that if the dues are not cleared within a week, the matter will be referred to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The details suggest that this notice has been issued as the Punjab elections scheduled for May 14 are approaching.
